Welcome To The Ibaha Tribal Council
Welcome To The Ibaha Tribal Council
The Ibaha Tribal Council is committed to fostering meaningful connections and ensuring the authenticity of each family’s heritage. To uphold the integrity of our community, enrollment is conducted in person only. Below is the step-by-step process to become a member:
1. Attend an Enrollment Meeting
Enrollment is “in person only”no online or mail submissions are accepted. To schedule your meeting, please contact the council directly. Our representatives will arrange a convenient time for you to meet in person. During this meeting, we will guide you through the process and answer any questions.
2. Complete the Enrollment Application
At the meeting, you will receive and fill out the Yeye Ibaha Family Enrollment Application. Please ensure all required sections are accurately completed during your visit. This form is essential to record your family’s connection to the Ibaha community.
3. Provide Supporting Documents
You will need to bring originals of the following documents, which we will copy for our records:
Proof of Lineal Descent: Such as birth certificates, family records, and historical documents that trace your family’s heritage.
Maternal Lineage Verification: If the mother is absent, your family’s lineage will be traced through the father’s motherclan.
Cultural Statement: A personal statement explaining your family’s connection to Southeastern Indigenous traditions and customs.
4. Test & Interview with Elders or Council Representatives
After submitting your application, a test and interview with an elder or council representative will be scheduled. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about your family’s history, cultural ties, and commitment to our traditions. It is an essential part of the enrollment process, helping us ensure that each member is a true reflection of our values and heritage.
5. Participation Period
Upon approval, your family will enter a participation period. During this time, you will be expected to actively engage in council activities, ceremonies, and governance. This involvement ensures that new members are integrated into our community and contribute to preserving our traditions before full acknowledgment as members of the Ibaha Tribal Council.
